Info on Coronavirus (COVID-19) for Visitors

While we haven’t set a date yet, our plans for reopening in the safest way possible are in motion.

As the country begins to slowly open back up, we’d like to update you on our progress with Meow Wolf and our House of Eternal Return exhibit in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

While we haven’t set an exact date for our reopening yet, we are actively working on setting protocols and procedures to ensure your next visit with us is a safe and enjoyable one. As soon as we have a reopening date, we will make that information available across all our communication channels to give you and your family plenty of time to plan trips and purchase tickets.

We are closely monitoring state and federal government policy changes, Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines, government mandates, and public health advancements. We will continue to make changes as necessary. All decisions about implementing these plans will be made in collaboration with local health officials and other state and local authorities.

We are so proud of our home state of New Mexico for working together to slow the spread of COVID-19 and to keep our citizens healthy and safe. We have laid out our detailed plan below so you have access to as much information as possible for you to make the best decisions for you and your family.

Implementing safety practices and protocols to combat the spread of coronavirus is our first priority and highest concern, but we are also taking this time to install new upgrades to the exhibit, including installations from guest artists like Corinne Loperfido, Paolo Puck, Obsidiopolis, and more. When you are able to visit us again there will be a lot of new art to see and explore!

In the meantime, if you're missing Meow Wolf as much as we are, we’ve put together some fun, family-friendly activities (there’s a coloring book!) here.

Our Detailed Plan of Health and Safety Protocols

The following is a summary of our plan to keep our guests, employees, and our community safe. In addition to this plan, we have developed a customized set of procedures for every department that is more detailed and specific to the concerns of that department than the summary presented here. We will continue to refine and update this plan as more information becomes available and will keep this post updated with those changes.

Guest Safety

Your safety will always be of the utmost importance. The protocols we are enacting ensure that our exhibit remains a safe and fun place for our guests.

Touchless Ticket Purchase

All tickets will be purchased online prior to arrival. Guests will receive pre-visit information about virtual queuing, health screenings, social distancing, and other safety practices as part of the purchasing process.

Visitors will receive non-invasive health checks prior to entry

In addition to a short questionnaire you will answer online, we will perform a non-invasive temperature check to ensure guest safety. At the entrance, our team will conduct non-invasive temperature checks. Anyone displaying a temperature over 100.4°F (38°C) will be taken to a private area for a secondary temperature screening. Guests confirmed to have a temperature over 100.4°F (38°C) will not be allowed entry to the property and will be directed towards appropriate medical care. Any guest denied entry will be issued a refund.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

For your safety and ours, we will require all guests to wear masks when visiting Meow Wolf. As of May 16, the governor of the State of New Mexico has made face coverings mandatory in all public places. We encourage you to bring your own mask, but just in case, disposable gloves and masks will be provided to you at no cost. Thank you for your cooperation.

Hand Washing and Hand Sanitizer

Upon entry, ample hand sanitizer will be available. Hand sanitizer dispensers, touchless where possible, will be available at high contact areas such as check-in, entrances and exits, the cafe, gift shop, and in all restrooms. Touchless sinks have been installed in the restrooms for hand washing with ease.

Physical Distancing

Per local and state-mandated occupancy limits, exhibit capacity will be significantly reduced to allow for maximum physical distancing among guests. We ask guests to practice social distancing by standing at least six feet away from other groups or employees. Cafe tables and retail areas will be rearranged or retrofitted with plexiglass barriers to ensure appropriate distancing can be achieved. Employees will be trained to practice high standards of physical distancing.

Heightened Sanitation Procedures

In addition to our regular high standards of sanitation, we are greatly increasing the frequency and intensity of our cleaning protocols. Guest and employee safety is of the utmost importance so we’re ensuring that all possible precautions are being taken.

Cleaning Products

Meow Wolf uses cleaning products and protocols which meet EPA’s criteria for use against SARS-CoV-2 and are approved for use and effective against viruses, bacteria, and other airborne and bloodborne pathogens. We are working with our vendors, distribution partners, and suppliers to ensure an uninterrupted supply of these cleaning supplies and necessary PPE. The frequency of air filter replacement and HVAC system cleaning has been increased and fresh air exchange will be maximized.

Additional Maintenance Staff

We have hired additional janitorial staff to keep up with the increased frequency of cleaning and sanitizing of all public spaces, emphasizing high contact surfaces. Certain exhibit areas that are harder to clean are being modified prior to reopening. Interactive exhibit areas (fridge door, dryer tunnel, musical mushrooms, etc.) will be cleaned with a greater frequency.

Employee Wellbeing

The safety of our employees will always be of the utmost importance. The protocols we are enacting ensure that our exhibit and facilities will remain a safe work environment for all our employees and collaborators.

Training

Employees will receive comprehensive COVID-19 safety and sanitation training to ensure they understand and feel confident managing the physical distancing and hygiene aspects of their roles.

Health and Hygiene

Employees will receive daily temperature checks. Employees confirmed to have a temperature over 100.4°F (38°C) will not be allowed entry to the property and will be directed towards appropriate medical care.

Hand Washing and Hand Sanitizer

Hand sanitizer dispensers will be placed at guest and employee entrances and contact areas. Employees will be coached on proper protocols such as not touching their faces and employees will receive additional training on proper hand washing techniques.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Appropriate PPE will be worn by all employees based on their role and responsibilities and in adherence to state or local regulations and guidance.  Every employee entering the building will be provided with a mask and will be required to wear that mask while on property. Gloves will be provided to employees who are in direct contact with guests.

Sick Leave

We have updated our policies to make sure employees are encouraged to stay home and/or seek medical treatment if they aren’t feeling well. Employees will be asked to stay home and not return to work until they are symptom-free for 72 hours. Employees are encouraged to seek medical attention if they display a fever, cough, sore throat, loss of sense of taste or smell, or shortness of breath. Employee well being is of paramount importance to us.

As we prepare to welcome you back to Meow Wolf Santa Fe’s House of Eternal Return we are reminded of how lucky we are to be a part of such a supportive community of artists and fans.
