Intensive Body Paint and Performance Workshop

Ariana Throne, owner of Awkward Fox Body Paint, will guide you through this three-month collaborative experience. Learn expert body painting skills, movement theory, and group performance exercises. No prior experience in performance or body paint necessary. Drawing inspiration from the House of Eternal Return, the program culminates in a live body-painting show inside the walls of Meow Wolf.
- Day & Time: Wednesdays, 6-9pm
- Workshop Dates: 1/10, 1/17, 1/ 24, 2/14, 2/21, 2/28, 3/7, 3/14, 3/21, 3/28, 4/4, 4/11. There will be a three week break from Jan 31st to Feb 13th.
- Performance: April 2018, dates and times TBD
Body paint classes will include bodypaint brands and basics with brush and sponge, camouflage painting, UV paint techniques, airbrush, creative process, and posing.
Performance techniques will include viewpoints theory, collaborative shape and movement, improvisation with the body, body awareness and positivity.
Participants should be available for the entire process. There will be one make-up day if you need to miss a class or are sick.
The class will involve nudity, but we will work with comfort levels gradually. Live modelling/performing is NOT required if you would just like to paint! All body types, physical ability levels, and genders are welcome.

Ariana Throne is an award winning body painting artist from Santa Fe, New Mexico. Her training began when she was three, playing with makeup on the floor of the then Santa Fe Community College. She has been doing makeup for fun and stage ever since. Body painting came a few years ago after traveling the globe and modeling for other artists. Ariana is the creator and owner of Awkward Fox body paint. She has been a professional make-up artist for stage and beauty for over ten years and now specializes in full-body looks. Her style takes influences from nature and cultures around the globe.
