James Whiton with special guest Leeches of Lore presented by the Weekly Alibi and Colorway
In 2016, James signed with Cinder Cone Media Worldwide and co-produced a full-length CD Perchance to Dream, which will be released on February 24th, 2017 at Santa Fe’s astonishing art installation, Meow Wolf: The House of Eternal Return. Whiton will perform the CD in its entirety, followed by a performance from local rock legends Leeches of Lore.
Perchance to Dream draws from classical compositional techniques, combining tradition with genre-splitting experimental soundscapes, resulting in a dark and beautiful piece of music that is beautiful, unexpected, and mesmerizing. “One man and one bass intertwined, emanating a wash of sound that was truly unbelievable.” -Jennifer Johnson, The Guardian
Leeches of Lore
‘One of the oddest bands in America but also one of the most interesting and talented is back with their fourth full length after a short hiatus and I couldn’t be more pleased. They once again released a masterpiece and it’s a shame that this band isn’t widely acclaimed. The New Mexico quartet led by Steve Hammond (guitar, vocals) has always been a peculiar beast and a superbly varied affair. They’re an extraterrestrial being who’s not afraid of experimenting and breaking the boundaries of music’s apparent limitations. From fast paced and thrashy heavy metal to noise rock, drone and Western, these guys can play anything while never being totally confused or confusing. They could be compared to Melvins, the godfathers of weirdness in terms of vision and and for their numerous genre jumping jacks. They also got the help of longtime Melvins producer Toshi Kasai (who plays additional instruments on this record) to produce and record Motel of Infinity, definitely their best production yet.’ -Encyclopaedia Metallum
