A special performance in the Living Room of the house inside Meow Wolf’s “House of Eternal Return”

Support from AJ Woods

Lady Lamb (aka Aly Spaltro) will release her “Tender Warriors Club” EP this December 1st via Mom+Pop in conjunction with an upcoming solo, acoustic Living Room Tour.

Written between her original hometown of Maine, current hometown of Brooklyn, Portugal and in a home studio in rural Sweden, where she also recorded the EP, “Tender Warriors Club” is Spaltro’s attempt to focus on intimacy and vulnerability, both musically and thematically.

“These songs served as a path for myself that making a conscious effort to stay tender, and be kind and patient towards myself when handling my own fears is the most fruitful way to maneuver them in personal relationships. Tender Warriors Club is not just a collection of songs. It is meant to serve as an emblematic space for people to relate in the shared interest of emotional vulnerability, using music as the collective form of self-expression. It is my hope that this work and concept can be a reminder to both myself and others to find the courage to remain sensitive through emotional challenges. I’d like to bring these themes into intimate spaces musically, without amplification or a traditional stage, as a means to connect through the aforementioned concept that striving to express oneself with tenderness is ultimately a strength.”both fear and love: internally and externally, before and after

Born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, AJ Woods has been a part of the underground Southwestern music scene for nearly a decade. In that time, Woods has released two full-length albums on Denver, Colorado’s Tinyamp Records (S/T, 2013, The Fence, 2016), as well as EPs, singles and live recordings, which have earned him comparisons to Jason Molina, Bonnie “Prince” Billy, Neil Young and Townes Van Zandt. Still, “Woods'[s] lyrical style, guitar playing and singing are his own—something that can’t often be said.” (Alibi) He’s played with acts such as Mutual Benefit, William Elliot Whitmore, Julie Byrne, Richard Buckner, Big Sis and Des Ark, among many others. With music and lyrics that are “poignant and powerful,” (ABQ Free Press), Woods creates not only songs, but “unpretentious poetry….This guy’s for real.” (Alibi) A teacher, a musician, a poet, whatever he is, in times like these, when our sense of reality is shifting and dissolving, Woods’s music is a grounding force. It brings us back to the cold, hot, hard, soft, wet, dry earth on which we live and depend, the music; it reminds us that we have hearts, bones that break and heal, blood that can leave us; that we are related to, made and capable of many things. Since the critically acclaimed release of his latest album The Fence, Woods has toured California, opened up for the Handsome Family, and is currently at work on new music and plans for a tour.

“AJ Woods possesses the rare gift of direct eloquence.”

-M. Brianna Stallings, ABQ Free Press

“Woods’s music stands out from the pack ….[His] chops are grade A, his songs are worthy of a Drag

City release….The 10 tracks on The Fence deal with the more hazardous class of memories and

heavy life experiences that, without an outlet, can mire one in hopelessness and the morass of

depression…Woods’; songwriting…is some of the best of 2016….Physically tiny, yet massive in content, this cassette.”
