Local classical guitarists Roberto Capocchi and Mohit Dubey bring music from around the world to the Meow Wolf stage. From Brazilian choro to Italian harpsichord sonatas, these two soloists will take you on a six-string musical journey. As Meow Wolf’s first ever classical music concert we invite people of all ages to come enjoy the music and space in a whole new way.

Mohit Dubey is a young classical guitarist and physicist in the making from Los Alamos, New Mexico. A student of Roberto Capocchi at New Mexico School for the Arts and Stephen Aron at Oberlin Conservatory, Mohit has played concerts across the world – from Santa Fe to Italy to Jordan. As the son of Indian and German scientists, Mohit is excited about using music as a means of expression and storytelling across cultural differences and exploring all the ways the guitar can be played.

Roberto Capocchi is a Brazilian classical guitarist recognized for his “rare musical refinement, polished technique and conscientious analysis of the music” (Violão Intercâmbio). He graduated from the Lins de Vasconcelos Conservatory and Carlos Gomes Music College. After winning a string of guitar competitions in Brazil, Mr. Capocchi completed graduate work on scholarship at the University of Arizona. His guitar teachers have included Sandra Costa, Henrique Pinto, Conrado Paulino, Thomas Patterson, and Jorge Caballero. He has performed with most of Santa Fe’s premier concert organizations such as The Lensic Performance Space, The Santa Fe Opera, and Santa Fe Desert Chorale, and has offered a number of solo and chamber music performances locally with musicians such as violinist Ellen Chavez de Leitner, flutist Carol Redman, and tenor Andre Garcia-Nuthmann. He runs the “Santa Fe Guitar Academy”, offering guitar instruction, workshops, and performance opportunities for aspiring guitar players, and is on faculty at the United World College and New Mexico Higlands University, and is artist-in-residence at Adams State University.

“A delight for both one’s senses and spirit, concerned not with technique, since he transcends it, but rather with expression.”
El Imparcial, Hermosillo, Mexico

“The artistic musical sense of a genius, an extraordinarily competent and committed teacher, certainly among the country’s greatest names in the guitar.”
