Architectural Spots

The snowcapped Rocky Mountains aren’t the only photo-worthy views from the city. Denver’s downtown is rife with gorgeous architecture. Head to these photo spots for shots that scream “Denver, Colorado!”

Historic Denver Union Station sits in the heart of downtown Denver, just a 10 minute drive from Convergence Station. It’s a sprawling building with stunning Neoclassical and Italian Romanesque architecture that’s begging to be the primary subject of your next photo. In addition to serving as Denver’s primary transit center, Union Station is also a social hub with dining, shopping, events, and more. On any given day, it’s bustling with activity.

From action-packed street photography to elevated architectural shots, Union Station ranks as one of the best photo spots in Denver.

Larimer Square

Larimer Square, another great Downtown Denver photo spot, plays a big role in Denver’s history. It’s the locale of a number of firsts for Denver: the city’s first block, commercial district, and city hall. Thanks to a 1960s restoration project, the district’s historic 19th century Victorian buildings have been preserved and repurposed into cafes, shops, galleries, and more.

Today, trendy Larimer Square is the center of shopping and dining in Denver, offering plenty of opportunities for street photography, fashion photography, and other ways to flex your shutterbug muscles.

Denver Art Museum

The Denver Art Museum features a collection of Denver’s boldest and most unique buildings. The 7-story Martin Building comprises a mosaic of more than a million reflective glass tiles and striking windows, while the Fredric C. Hamilton building’s angular, avant-garde design takes inspiration from the peaks of the Rocky Mountains. The museum campus is great for abstract images, wide-angled architecture photos, and more.

Iconic Skyline Shots

Denver has one of the most unique skylines in the country. It’s set against the majestic Rocky Mountains, infusing the view with a gorgeous juxtaposition of the natural and the manufactured. Capture its beauty at these photo spots.

Denver’s largest body of water, Sloan’s Lake, is a man-made lake on Denver’s northwest side. It’s one of the city’s best spots for sunset photography. In a single shot, you can photograph a gorgeous sunset, Denver’s skyline, The Rockies, and a perfect reflection on the calm surface of the water.

Denver Museum of Nature & Science

The Denver Museum and Nature and Science offers another great skyline view. The rooftop patio has an excellent vantage point that looks out over City Park, a sprawling greenspace at the heart of the city, as well as the city skyline.

Millennium Bridge

Denver’s Millenium Bridge is a pedestrian bridge that spans the South Platte River and connects LoDo to Highland. It takes inspiration from the mast of a ship, with a 200-foot mast at the center of the bridge and cable-stayed construction.

Not only is the bridge itself an interesting photography subject, but it offers an amazing view of the northwestern skyline—mountain-backed, of course!

Denver’s Natural Beauty

Nothing inspires like nature, and Denver is home to some of the most gorgeous views in the state. Check out these great places for nature photography around the city.

Denver Botanic Gardens

The 23-acre Denver Botanic Gardens houses an astoundingly diverse selection of plants, including a conservatory, 7 themed gardens, and North America’s largest collection of plants from cold temperate climates. Visitors aren’t the only ones who take respite among its plants. The gardens support a wide array of animals, insects, birds, and other crucial wildlife. Visit to practice wildlife photography, macro photography, and more.
