A one-of-a-kind urban space, Smither Park is full of sculptural, mosaic masterpieces made from recycled materials, including broken tiles, glass, and shells. It was made in collaboration with numerous local artists to commemorate the life of John H. Smither, a collector and supporter of self-taught art. The park’s intricate designs, vibrant colors, and creative mosaics make interesting photography subjects on their own, and make an excellent backdrop for family photos and more.
An ode to the Pont des Arts bridge in Paris, Houston’s Love Lock Bridge is a pedestrian bridge outside of Buffalo Bayou Park. Couples demonstrate their commitment to one another by adding their own special lock to the bridge and throwing away the key. It’s among the best photo spots in Houston for an engagement or anniversary photoshoot, or to snap unique photos of the Houston skyline through its chainlink fence.

It’s no wonder this spot ranks as Houston’s most photographed location. Gerald D. Hines Waterwall Park in Uptown Houston is a dramatic sculptural fountain that towers overhead at 5 stories tall. As the name suggests, a torrent of water cascades down its surface, making for an awesome backdrop for portraits and one of Houston’s most Instagrammable spots.

The only commercial historic district in Houston, Main Street Market Square’s buildings stretch back as far as 1858. It includes the University of Houston, Market Square Park, and original brick-paved streets. The area is rife with opportunities to photograph 19th-century architecture and some of Houston’s most historically significant locales.
Kellum-Noble House is Houston’s oldest surviving building, originally built in 1847. It’s undergone extensive restoration by The Heritage Society and now serves as a museum of Texas History. The house features Greek Revival and Louisiana plantation-style architecture and traditional antique furnishings that make for a unique and historic Houston photo shoot location.
