Meow Wolf Ascends with New Hot Air Balloon

Meow Wolf Universe expands skyward during the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta

There are some who have claimed to see bizarre happenings in the sky lately. Reports have been pouring in of what can best be described as some kind of “glitch”. We would like to extend our apologies and thank you for your patience as we test patches of the New Mexican skies for our new interdimensional travel transport, Skyworm. As these temporary portals open up, please do not attempt to approach, as they have not yet been cleared as stable by Portals Bermuda

Alva (our interdimensional travel agent) has been working together with her team to prep our first brave human Earthling for interdimensional travel. Norteño comedian and musician, Carlos Medina, will attempt to put his training to the test and travel through the temporary portals in Skyworm to kick off the grandest ballooning event on Earth – the Albuquerque International (Interdimensional) Balloon Fiesta

Susan Garbett, General Manager of Meow Wolf Santa Fe, is proud for us to take part in the Balloon Fiesta, as it is one of the most beloved New Mexican traditions. Susan adds, “Meow Wolf is always on a quest to break the boundaries of creativity and transport our audiences to uncharted realms. We can't wait to share our latest artistic marvel with the local community and fellow balloon enthusiasts from around the globe.”

Not just this globe – we’re inviting all of our friends and art lovers from every dimension and universe to come take part, including YOU!

Imagined by Meow Wolf’s internal creative team (directed by Chadney Everett, and designed by Jeff Hantman), the design of the balloon is a feat in perspective shifting, and as an optical illusion – very “Meow Wolf-y”. Designer Jeff Hantman said, "We can't wait to share this creation with the world. To me, Skyworm captures the essence of Meow Wolf's immersive and otherworldly experience.

Skyworm was produced in collaboration with local hot air balloon company, Rainbow Ryders Hot Air Balloon Ride Co. “Rainbow Ryders is honored to partner with one of the most iconic brands in New Mexico and soon the nation – Meow Wolf. The partnership between our two organizations is sure to wow people at the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta and beyond,” exclaimed Scott Appelman, owner of Rainbow Ryders.

In the photo-op-of-this-timeline’s-century news, Skyworm was invited to participate in a very unique balloon glow during the annular solar eclipse on Saturday, October 14th.

See you next year at Balloon Fiesta (or perhaps in another dimension?)!
